How to set up a compliance copy email

Last updated: June 26, 2020

Please note: this feature is NOT turned on by default and must be used with care. Enabling this feature will result in every single email sent from this HubSpot account getting copied to the designated email address, which could cause problems if you have load limits for your email service or if the person who owns this inbox doesn't need or want to receive these emails. Certain common email providers like Google and Yahoo cannot reliably handle the volume of compliance copy emails that would be sent when this feature is enabled, so if your email is hosted with one of these providers you will not be able to use this functionality.

personalization token means that the email has changed. So if you send the same email to Rachel and to Tom, you will get two compliance copy emails to your inbox since your "Hi [name]" line was different for each. So you could be receiving thousands of emails.

1.  Navigate to email settings

In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar. In the left sidebar, click MarketingEmail.

2.  Enable compliance copy email

Click the Subscriptions tab, then switch the Compliance copy email toggle ON

Once you switch this setting ON, you will be prompted to enter the Recipient email. Enter the email address of the person who will be receiving the BCC of all outgoing emails, then click Save.

Once an email address is entered and the changes are saved, a confirmation email will be sent to the entered email address to confirm. Until then, you will see a Pending Confirmation alert next to this setting. If you need to resend this email for any reason, you can click Resend confirmation.

3.  Edit the recipient

If you need to update the recipient for your compliance copy email, click  Edit recipient.

Please note: it is not possible to use the CC functionality when sending marketing emails from HubSpot. To include someone as a recipient on a marketing email, they must be added as a contact in the database and included on the sending list or as an individual recipient.
