Edit your language settings for the conversations tool

When editing the language of your targeted messages, there are two factors involved: the language you see in your conversations inbox and the language your website visitors see in the chat widget. Learn how to customize the language your visitors see when they chat with you on your website.
Individual targeted message settings
When editing each targeted message, both the Welcome Message and Email capture message are entirely configurable and can be changed to any language. For this reason, create separate messages if you have versions of your website in different languages, and set the target audiences accordingly.
To edit an individual message's welcome message and email capture message:
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar.
- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Conversations > Inboxes.
- Hover over the inbox that contains your targeted message, then click Edit.
- In the left sidebar menu, click Chat to access your targeted messages.
- Hover over a specific targeted message and click Edit.
- Select Message.
- In the Welcome Message and Email capture message field, enter text in any language.
- Click Save.
Language preference
In addition, you can set the language for contextual widget data, which includes:
- The date and time stamps
- The Send button
- The write a message prompt
- The email address prompt, help text, and confirmation message
- The typically replies in message
- The will return at message
To set the language for this contextual widget data:
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar.
- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Conversations > Inboxes.
- Hover over the inbox that contains your targeted message, then click Edit.
- In the left sidebar menu, click Chat to access your targeted messages.
- Hover over a specific targeted message and click Edit.
- In the left sidebar menu, select Options.
- Under Language preference, click the Language dropdown menu and select your preferred language.
- Click Save.
Follow-up transcript email
The follow-up email containing the chat transcript is sent in the language set in your account settings.
