Manage the URL of files uploaded to the file manager
Last updated: October 4, 2023
All files in your file manager have a unique file URL. You can use HubSpot Content Delivery Network (CDN) domain for hosting, or customize a file's URL to be hosted on any of your domains connected in HubSpot.
If you want the URL of your file to be removed from search engine results, or hidden from anyone outside your team, you can customize the settings of your file URL in the file manager. All files attached to CRM records are private and hidden from search results by default.
Copy the URL of a specific file
To access the URL of a file:
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Files and Templates > Files.
- Locate the file and click the file name.
- In the right pane, click the File URL dropdown menu and select the URL you want to use. The different URL options are based on the domains you have connected to HubSpot.
- Click Copy URL to use or share this URL.
Update your file manager's default hosting domain
To edit the domain your file is hosted on:
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar.
- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Website > Pages.
- Click the SEO & Crawlers tab.
- In the Default File Manager Hosting Domain section, click the dropdown menu and select the domain for the files in the File Manager.

- Click Save to update your settings.
Make the file not accessible via URL
If you have private content in your file manager that should never be seen by individuals outside your organization, you can disable its file URL. This way only other users in your HubSpot account can access the file in the file manager tool. This action should not be taken on any files you want to be visible on your website.
To disable the file's URL:
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Files and Templates > Files.
- Locate the file and click the file name.
- In the File details panel, click to toggle the This file is publicly accessible switch off.
Now, only users in your HubSpot account with access to the file manager tool can view your file.
Remove a file from search engine results
If there are files that you want to be visible on your website, but not accessible via search engine results, you can remove the file's URL from search engine indexing with one click. For example, if you have a content offer that you want to use to collect contact information from new visitors, you probably don't want anonymous visitors to find this content via Google search.
To remove a file from being indexed in search results:
- In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Files and Templates > Files.
- Locate the file and click the file name.
- In the File details panel, click to toggle the This file can be indexed by search engines switch off.
Now, your file will not appear in search results.
