How to use contact property groups

How to view your contact property groups

1. Manage your contacts property settings

In your HubSpot Marketing account, navigate to Contacts > Contacts Settings.

In your HubSpot Marketing Free/Starter account or HubSpot Sales account, navigate to Contacts > click the Actions dropdown menu > select Edit properties 

2. Locate your group

Within your contacts properties settings screen, you can scroll down to navigate through the different groups. Click the arrow next to a group name to expand or collapse the properties within each section and quickly see all your groups.

Default property groups

Contact Information

The Contact Information property group contains general information about your contact, including name and address, as well as information about their relationship with your business, such as the date they became a customer. The default properties in this group are not editable. The custom properties, meaning the ones that you create, are editable.

Social Media Information

The Social Media Information property group contains information about the contact's social media accounts, such as the contact's Twitter username, amount of Facebook clicks, and LinkedIn connections. The default properties in this group are not editable. The custom properties, meaning the ones that you create, are editable.

Email Information

The Email Information property group contains information about the contact's email interactions, such as the emails delivered, last email open date, and emails clicked. The default properties in this group are not editable. Email data is automatically collected and processed by HubSpot; therefore, you will not be able to manually alter the data stored in these default properties. Custom properties in this group, meaning the ones that you create, are editable.

Web Analytics History

The Web Analytics History property group contains information about the contact's web analytics, such as the page first seen and the number of visits. The default properties in this group are not editable. Web analytics data is automatically collected and processed by HubSpot; therefore, you will not be able to manually alter the data stored in these default properties. Custom properties in this group, meaning the ones that you create, are editable.

Conversion Information 

The Conversion Information property group contains information about the contact's interactions with forms on your website, such as the contact's first conversion and the number of form submissions. The default properties in this group are not editable. Conversion data is automatically collected and processed by HubSpot; therefore, you will not be able to manually alter the data stored in these default properties. Custom properties in this group, meaning the ones that you create, are editable.

How to create a new property group

In the contacts property settings screen (as directed in the step above), click the button at the top-right to Create a property group.

In the pop-up window, give your group a name and click Create.

How to rename or delete your custom property group

If you'd like to rename or delete a property group you no longer use, you can do so from the properties settings screen. Scroll to the property group you'd like to edit, then click Edit group name

To delete a property group, you must first move or delete any properties in that group. Click the property name and select a new group from the Group dropdown menu or click Delete to delete the property.

Once you've moved or deleted all properties in the group, return to your list of properties and click Delete group  to the right of the group name.
